Adieu, good bye

You wish the best for me
But the room is now cold
You did not mean to hurt me
Yet I sit in the dark room
You tell me it will be ok
To stop my tears from falling
You kiss me on the head
Wishing me goodbye
You tell me it’s not my fault
Then you walk to the door
You look back before you leave

I only have the footprints
You left in the snow
I think about putting my feet in them
To see how they would feel
I did not think I would keep using them
But yet here I am at your door
I offer you my heart to keep
Because I won’t use it anymore

  1. You made me cry. This is too close for comfort.

  3. I am touched especially since i enjoyed reading your blog.

I think the thing to remember is that the speaker in the poem ends it on her terms even if she has lost what she loved the most. She gives back her heart because she "won't" use it anymore. She will move onto other things.

She is hurt, but not destroyed.
